Eaton Hardwood Floors
  • Reduce wear by using rugs at work stations, dining areas and other heavily traveled points. Especially if there's a large family or indoor pets.
  • Use dirt-trapping mats at all exterior doors.
  • Sweep and vacuum regularly with a soft brush or felt type vacuum head. Make sure the wheels of the vacuum are clean and do not use a vacuum with a beater bar head.
  • Never mop or flood your floor with water. This can harshly damage the flooring.
  • Thoroughly clean and rinse sponge mops to eliminate detergents. Even new mops must be rinsed.
  • Remove spills promptly using a soft cloth. Do not use oil soaps, liquids or paste wax products. This includes lemon oil, tung oil or ammonia cleaners. Using these products can cause damage to your floors that isn't covered by our warranty.
  • Keep pets nails trimmed and their paws clean.
  • Office chairs should be placed on a breathable mat to prevent scratching and roll marks.
  • Hard wax oil floors should be cleaned daily via sweeping, vacuuming or dust mopping. Avoid allowing excessive sunlight to hit the floor, it can dissolve the hard wax oil. If there is floor damage call a professional floor covering repair expert.

  • Place protective felt pads below furniture legs to reduce dents and scratches.
  • Use plywood sheets and a dolly when moving any heavy appliances, objects or furniture.
  • Remove shoes with spiked or damaged heels before walking on the floor.
  • Rearrange rugs and furniture periodically so the floor ages evenly.
  • Protect your floor from sun damage by using blinds or drapes to prevent excessive sunlight from hitting the floor. Our warranty doesn't cover sun damage.
  • To keep your floor at its best we recommend you dust mop or vacuum twice a week, and more often than that in high traffic areas. Never use a wet mop to clean, instead wipe up all spills and clean with an appropriate floor.
  • Urethane floors should not be wet mopped or waxed. Use a lightly dampened cloth to wipe up spills and then clean with an appropriate floor cleaner.
